Cast Glass and Stainless Steel
Size: 8 W x 3 H x 2.5 D in
“Celestial Horizon” was the first piece in the Horizon series. Inspired by Lake Superiors’ north shore and by the artistic vision of George Morrison (1919–2000), the Native American Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor whom I had the privilege to meet.
The horizon serves as an organizing structure for visual space—our most fundamental means of orientation.
This abstract landscape made using carving and casting techniques represents the transition of day to night and back again. Rising moon and setting sun, or maybe it is the other way around, the interchanging forms flow seamlessly together. Over the great lake time stands still. The deep blues and greens and violets give a cool and quiet feeling as the motion of the waves move silently across the sky.
A stainless steel base grounds this one of a kind sculpture.
