Cast Glass and Metal Leaf
Size: 17 W x 10.5 H x 2.5 D in
“Cross Current,” a captivating glass art sculpture, is part of the Horizon Series, drawing inspiration from the expansive beauty of Lake Superior’s north shore, and by the work of George Morrison (1919–2000), the Native American Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor whom I had the privilege to meet.
The horizon serves as an organizing structure for visual space—our most fundamental means of orientation.
This contemporary abstract sculpture translates the motion of water and wind into a beautiful form. As two forms lean forward against a blue brick background, they embark on a journey across multi directional currents. Grooves carved into the varying layers set up a dynamic composition. Varigated copper leaf wraps the piece adding a rich and bold element to this hand made work of fine craft.
The two separate castings stack comfortably on one another. Museum Gel is include to secure the pieces in place.
Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the piece as well.
