Cast Glass, Metal Leaf
Size: 15 W x 9 H x 3 D in
“Resting Waves” is part of the Horizon series reflecting Lakes Superior’s north shore and inspired by the work of George Morrison (1919–2000), the Native American Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor whom I had the privilege to meet.
The horizon serves as an organizing structure for visual space—our most fundamental means of orientation.
Gentle blues and greens blend into harmonious union in this stunning cast glass sculpture. Motion is captured in the still waves and the sun is slightly perched in the sky. The power of the lake dominates this composition. Carving and casting techniques were used to create this one of a kind piece of fine craft.
The edge is wrapped with slate green metal foil giving the piece an earthy feel to contrast with the watery blue.
The two cast glass pieces stack comfortably and museum gel is included to ensure secure installation.
Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the piece as well.
