Cast Glass, Metal Leaf
Size: 15 W x 9 H x 2 D in
Discover the serene beauty of “Skyscape – Gray,” a captivating cast glass sculpture from the Horizon series and a limited edition.
It is inspired by the serene beauty of Lake Superior’s north shore, and by the work of George Morrison (1919–2000), the Native American Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor whom I had the privilege to meet.
The horizon serves as an organizing structure for visual space—our most fundamental means of orientation.
The beauty of this piece rests in the monochromatic palate. The puzzle like shapes forming the landscape with a moon resting on a plane contribute the essential visual focus. These shapes carry the eyes across the sky, similar to gazing over a body of water and watching the interplay of the waves and wind.
Made using carving and casting techniques, the edges are wrapped in metal leaf.
This abstract artwork presents a painterly quality that feels both contemporary and timeless.
The two cast glass elements stack securely, and museum gel is included for easy and stable installation.
Certificate of Authenticity included.
