Cast Glass, Metal Leaf
Size: 13 W x 8.5 H x 2.5 D in
This hand made cast glass sculpture, “Surreal Sunset,” evokes the breathtaking beauty of Lake Superior’s north shore and is inspired by the works of George Morrison, (1919–2000), the Native American Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor whom I had the privilege to meet.
The horizon serves as an organizing structure for visual space—our most fundamental means of orientation.
Vibrant yellows and oranges dance against tranquil blues, creating a dynamic yet harmonious visual experience. Textured waves and lines gracefully transition into the cool greens and violets of the mountains at the base. Variegated metal leaf along the edges contains the piece in a warm skin, lending the sculpture a fluid yet structured form. Truly a one-of-a-kind creation of fine craft.
This piece is a dreamscape of color and form. It captures the ephemeral magic of a sunset over water, blending the abstract with contemporary design. Its compact size makes it a perfect fit for any space, whether placed on a shelf, tabletop, or catching the light on a windowsill.
The two pieces fit comfortably together and museum gel is included for secure display.
Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the piece as well.
