Travelers’ Amulet is part of the Horizon series. Inspired by the north shore of Lake Superior and by the artistic vision of George Morrison (1919–2000), the Native American Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor whom I had the privilege to meet.
The horizon serves as an organizing structure for visual space—our most fundamental means of orientation.
The irregular contour and bold colors give this piece energy and interest. The internal landscape contrasts urban forms and water features in search of a balance.
Secured on a stainless steel base which off sets the luminosity of the glass, and gives it quiet resting place.
Hand made using carving and casting techniques this one of a a kind fine craft sculpture brings a contemplative presence to any space.
